A Palace caught fire in Port Harcourt


According to the Tide, A palace was burnt down in flames over the weekend. The Palace of Eze John Dike, the paramount ruler of Rumuwoji in port Harcourt had his houses (over 30 houses), goods, shops and properties worth millions of Naira burnt into ashes.

Also a warehouse close to the palace, fully stocked with goods (provisions) was also affected

It was also reported that a 61 years old man (George Monima) who happened to be a tenant in the yard lost his life . Mr. George had been ill for month and couldn't escape the fire when it started. Even the Monarch was rescued by a neighbor .

The fire started at about 11pm on Sunday night just some hours after the Chief finished having a meeting with his tenants.

No one knows what started the fire though everyone is pointing accusing fingers at the Community Youth President who threatened to deal with the chief.
